What Logistics Pipes does:

Logistics Pipes is mainly, an Addon for Buildcraft, which extends the Pipe-System with Item, Fluid and Energy Routing Mechanics.

Logistics Pipes features complete support for Thermal Dynamics, to the point where you can use Itemducts almost Everywhere!

Additionally Logistics Pipes integrates with many other Mods, for example Thermal Expansion, Not Enough Items, Applied Energistics 2, and many more. It utilises and extends a variety of other Mods Capabilities.



Logistics Pipes are intelligent! Items travelling inside the Network will ALWAYS take the shortest Path towards their destination.

Logistics Pipes can be run completely without the need of other Piping Systems, but will route through other Pipe Types if needed/wanted.
Example of supported Pipe Networks
We Currently Support:

  • Buildcraft Pipes(100% Integration of all Item Pipes with special Rules)
  • Thermal Dynamics Itemducts(Supports all Tiers, Normal, Impulse and Warp Itemducts! With special rules!)

An Example: In the following Inventory System, Cobblestone gets routed into a Chest:
Via Logistics Pipes only:
A Simple, passive LP Network
Or with Buildcraft Pipes:
Same system, with Buildcraft Pipes
Or with thermal Dynamics Itemducts:
Same system, with Itemducts
The Cobblestone Generator inserts Items into the Network, which get routed to the designated Chest.

A Basic Logistics Pipe or any other Type of Routed Pipe is NEEDED at EVERY Intersection. Basic Pipes are the cheapest form:

If any Unrouted Pipe (Unrouted Transport Pipe, or any Buildcraft Pipe) is used, the intersection is no longer Safe as items will choose a direction randomly:

Special Pipe Rules:

Iron Pipes are respected for 1-way routing.

Diamond pipes connect power but not routing.

Obsidian pipes block routing and power.

Tesseracts can be used for Interdimensional Tele-Connections.
{INSERT More details page about Tesseracts Here!} Each Tesseract can ONLY accept ONE basic Logistics Pipe!
Tesseracts should be set to Send/Receive Items and Energy on both ends.
Every Tesseract Frequency is a 1-to-1-Connection, Multiple In-/Outputs on the same Frequency will stop the Connection from Working!


In Logistics Pipes, items are only sent if there is a need. There are 2 different Routing mechanisms:

Passive Routing:

Passive networks push items to specific destinations.
Best Example is our Cobblestone Router shown before.
The Generator pushes Items into the Network, which automatically get sent to the first valid Inventory.

Any Items pushed into the network by any Machine or other Pipe Network will be handled this Way!
So will Items which get extracted by Extractor Modules.

A DEFAULT Route can be set, so Items always have a destination, whether or not the Network "KNOWS" what to do with them.

If there is no valid Place for the inserted Item to go to, the Items will accumulate in the Pipe they got inserted into and will eventually spill on the ground!

Active Routing:

Active networks pull items on request.
Active routing is initiated by the destination requesting a specific item. These items are then sent by Providers.
The Request Pipes, Supplier Pipes, Remote Orderer Pipes with a connected Remote Orderer and the Computer Craft API interface produce Active Requests.

Crafting Pipes fire Active Requests when they ask for the Material they need for their Crafting Operation.

Note: Items sent by Active Requests will never get lost!


All actions in Logistics pipes need power ranging from small(~1RF), through to expensive (e.g. quick-sorting a stack takes 500RF).
These values are for a power multiplier of “1”, which is adjustable in the configuration file.

When a pipe “sparkles” that means it has used power.
Power is provided by the Logistics Power Junction.
Without one of these Power Junctions connected to a Basic Pipe on your network, NOTHING will run!

Logistics Pipes can also transport power using Logistics Power Providers, Power Transportation Upgrades and Power Supplier Upgrades.

Redstone Signals

All Logistics pipes are redstone enabled, capable of having their delivery options turned on or off at the whim of the redstone operator. They also provide some pipe signals for various conditions (EG: supply request failed).
